This was the year for Australia’s favorite synth-pop duo, The Presets: after four long years in hibernation, the Sydneysiders finally returned with their third full-length, Pacifica and embarked on a nationwide tour of Australia headlining the country’s traveling festival, Parklife, where they absolutely killed their live shows.

Their new album saw a new fusion of indie synth pop and conventional rave music – appealing to both particular niches worldwide and securing high praise all throughout their native country, as they sat atop the TripleJ charts for quite some time. Pacifica is absolutely covered with synth pop gems, reaffirming the idea that Australia (and Modular Records in general) creates some of the best synth pop out there (see Cut Copy) with tracks like the forward-moving “Ghosts” and the rave-ready “Promises”.

Basically, if you haven’t heard this synth pop masterpiece, you’re missing out.
