One of the most beautiful things about the music industry is the way in which artists honor each other. Back in 2010, English singer and progressive rock legend Peter Gabriel released an album of twelve covers entitled Scratch My Back with the vision of producing a follow-up record And I’ll Scratch Yours featuring modern artists covering Gabriel‘s own work. Initially the latter was supposed to be released in 2010, however the lack of participation from a select few artists delayed the process.
Better late than never. And I’ll Scratch Yours is due out September 23 and will feature artists such as Bon Iver, Paul Simon, and of course, Arcade Fire. In exchange for Gabriel‘s haunting cover of “My Body is a Cage“, Arcade Fire recorded “Games Without Frontiers” for the new compilation.
“Games Without Frontiers” sounds like a typical Arcade Fire song: baroque, perfect blend of synths and percussion, and French infused lyrics. Arcade Fire creates a nearly flawless cover featuring lead vocals from Canadien husband and wife Win Butler and Régine Chassagne.
