It’s been over two months since we found out that Janelle Monáe would be releasing new album The Electric Lady this fall, and now we know the exact date, which she revealed via an Instagram (#nofilter) video. The album will be released September 10th via Bad Boy/Universal, and we already know that Prince and Miguel will feature on it, along with Erykah Badu, who is on “Q.U.E.E.N.”, the massive first single from the album.
Today Monáe has released another song that will be presumably feature on her upcoming album. It’s much less weird than “Q.U.E.E.N.” - save for a vocoded spoken word bit at the end – and features an infectious groove reminiscent of classic soul pop. Lyrically the song seems to deal with the idea of facing life with a positive attitude and “breaking out” as the world ends.
