Listen to Vampire Weekend’s Andrea Borcelli-Inspired Cover Of ‘Con Te Partirò’

Vampire Weekend had an incredibly successful 2013 with the release of their iconic third album Modern Vampires of the City which landed atop nearly every year end list. Now they’ve kicked off 2014 with their take on Andrea Borcelli’s performance of “Con te Partirò” which has lead singer Ezra Koenig channeling the Italian tenor alongside classic Vampire Weekend antics – you know, an african-inspired beat while keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij playfully follows along with his piano. Plus, I never thought in a million years I’d get to hear Koenig sing in Italian, and sing in Italian well at that.

The track is part of a Valentine’s Day album entitled Sweetheart 2014 released by Starbucks. It features other covers from popular names such as Fiona Apple, Phosphorescent, and My Morning Jacket‘s Jim James. Beck also released his cover of John Lennon‘s “Love” a few weeks ago which’ll appear on the album as well. Check out “Time To Say Goodbye (Con te Partirò)” and the track list for Sweetheart 2014 below.
