I was lucky enough to pick up their second release, the gorgeously ethereal “No More Canyons” and what a treat it is. Although the band hails from Brooklyn, NYC, you could easily imagine them drifting out of a Scandinavian wilderness. Drawing on influences from The Bad Seeds to Guy Maddin and picking up comparisons to Sigur Ros and Stars, they are already receiving great acclaim and this release is soon going to be adding to that.
The opening chords on this track ache with longing, crashing into haunting female vocals that float along an intense wall of sound. The repetitive lyrics added to the soft wailing backing increase the hypnotic beauty of the track. The more I listened to it the more exquisite it became.
All in all a superb follow up and a delicious taster for the the forthcoming album “No Big Fear” due in the Spring. “No More Canyons” is available for download now and it is released on Feb 15th on Eastern Seaboard/Old Flame Records and will be available in limited edition sky-blue vinyl.
