Alright, so we’re a bit late to this one, but it’s too good to pass up.
About a week ago, a cover of Brownstone‘s sultry and skeletal “If You Love Me” appeared on line penned by Jessie Ware and an unknown production duo by the name of BenZel, an incredibly young production duo (their members are 15 and 16 years-old). I have no idea how the collaboration happened, but it’s not a bad one for it to be the duo’s first publicly available song.
The main difference between the original and this cover is the addition of a beat (the original is done A Capella), and it’s an incredibly good groove. Of course, Jessie Ware‘s fantastic vocal delivery does its part here, and continues to prove her worth as 2012′s most exciting singer. There’s a reason Devotionis so so good.
We’ll be sure to keep tabs on BenZel from now on, and will keep you informed. For now, just snag a copy of the song below and replay it over and over and over. The song also comes with an accompanying colorful video, which has Jessie Ware‘s shadow singing the song and snapping her fingers. If nothing else, it’s worth a watch.
