I love Edda Magnason so much.
I initially fell for the Swedish singer’s quirky Phil Spector-ish head-in-the-clouds pop songs like “Blondie” and “Handsome” on her album “Goods“, but her newest single “Jona” takes its cues from the stranger, more ethereal cuts on her last record. Sparse electronic instrumentation is the sonic backdrop for Magnason’s signature voice and intergalactic dollops of sound toy with each other and layers of her voice to a nice build up.
I don’t know why this woman isn’t already on everyone’s radar, but she will be. Watch the video for “Jona” below and listen to the single EP below, including a number of remixes.
