Recently Introduced British four-piece Arthur Beatrice released the rather excellent “Carter (Uncut)” just over a week ago. It’s a powerful number, complete with moving minor-key piano chords, driving percussion, and, especially a haunting vocal delivery by lead vocalists Ella Girardot and Orlando Leopard.
The pair are the focus of the video for the song, though it’s hard to tell if it’s actually them (the comments in the YouTube description box confirm). Completely in black and white and consisting of slow, beautiful shots, it gives the song a new emotional connection, especially considering the minute-long piano intro that the band have added to the video version of the song. In fact, it seems to be a slightly different mix, at least in the beginning of the song, with a heavier emphasis on the piano.
The video was directed by London-based visual artist Kate Moross, who has already helped out the likes of Jessie Ware a couple of times. Arthur Beatrice’s Carter EP will be released July 22nd and is available to pre-order from iTunes.
