Following St. Lucia‘s Sydney debut was recent tour-mate, Charli XCX‘s, Sydney debut via Parklife. The British singer who – between having an opening slot for Coldplay, receiving high praise from the likes of Pitchfork, and releasing some trippy videos – has been blowing up the blogosphere all throughout 2012 put on an incredible, energy-filled show.
We named her One To Watch In 2012, and although she has yet to release an album, Charli put on a performance chock full of hits, between the goth-pop “Stay Away”, the hauntingly gorgeous “Nuclear Seasons”, and the dark synth-laden “You’re The One” that contained some pseudo-rapping, all of which had the entirety of the crowd dancing and singing along. And the girl can dance! Charli was shaking her hips throughout the duration of her performance, à la fellow Parklife tour mate, Robyn.
She’s been dropping (incredible) tracks left and right, but with the relase of a proper album, I think this girl is headed towards popstardom with her proclivity for post-apocalyptic dance music. Now, we just have to wait…
